Up to 4 Images may be added to each record in your database. By clicking one of the 4 coloured Image numbers in the Image box, you may select an Image file from your hard disk.
The Image files must be in one of the standard grapics formats, e.g. GIF, JPEG, BMP, etc. NOTE: Progressive compressed JPEG files are currently not supported.
Remember, the Images themselves are not held in your database - only a reference to the filename. When you publish your database, a copy of the image is made into the publish directory for uploading to the Web.
If you do not specify any Images against a record, then none will be published for that record.
Before selecting your Images, you can click the 'Database' button and nominate a default directory (which can be different for each database), where DataBox should start when you request a new image to be added to a record. Select the new directory at the bottom of the Database form and click 'OK'. Remember to click 'Save' on the main screen if you want these defaults to be saved for your database.
You may modify the Image view on the main DataBox screen between "Scale" or "Original Size". In scaled mode, DataBox will scale the image to fit the image window on the screen. You can also specify whether the images are published in their original size or scaled to a consistent image size when viewed on a Browser. To ensure published images are scaled, click on "Setup" for Publishing and check the "Publish Images to Scale" box.
You may also embed images in any of the 20 data fields by specifying HTML as the data content. Useful for adding small icons to your pages.
e.g. "<img src='animage.gif'>
However, as this is part of your data, DataBox will not copy the associated image files into the Publishing directory to upload to your site.
